Where are you focusing your time, effort and energy?
We only have some much that we can successfully focus on and when we hit that capacity things start to fall over and we start to burn out!
Too many people are giving their attention to the things that don’t really matter.
Every time you say yes to something, it gets added to your list. That then becomes a piece taken from the finite resource that is your focus.
Now, a lot of people will be saying “oh yeah but I just have lots of little things so they don’t really take much time”.
You have to remember it is not just the actual physical time you are dedicating to this project it is the mental and emotional as well.
Even though it may not be in your conscious mind it is in that brain of yours probably in your subconscious getting the attention it craves.
You may know this is true when you wake up at 2 am and it has slipped into your consciousness and given you a small shot of anxiety.
Until it is off your list it is tucked away inside of you damaged your focus with unnecessary distraction.
This is what burns people in business out, having too many things to do that don’t really matter if they do it or someone else.
Some leaders struggle to delegate or eliminate tasks from their realm of responsibility. There is a range of reasons why this happens but that can wait for another email.
But, you need to know if you are holding on to responsibilities or tasks that do not need to be cluttering up you focus on the massively important things that need your skillset to achieve.
Stop focusing a mile wide and an inch deep and get real specific or one inch wide and a mile deep!
Become laser focused on what will bring you success for you and your team.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:
