MONDAY MISSION

MISSION: MASTERING THE ART OF SAYING NO

ATTENTION: All.

SITUATION

In a society that values constant availability and a ‘yes’ mentality, it can be challenging to prioritize one’s own needs and boundaries. Following on from our last mission on setting boundaries with non-negotiables, learning to say ‘no’ is a critical skill that prevents overcommitment and burnout.

MISSION

Master the art of saying ‘no’ to commitments and requests that do not align with your personal and professional goals or infringe on your boundaries.

EXECUTION

a. Intent: Foster personal and professional alignment by learning to effectively say ‘no’ to distractions and overcommitment.

b. Method:

i. Reflect on your non-negotiables, as these are your primary guide for when to say ‘no’.

ii. Practice ways to respectfully and assertively say ‘no’, understanding that it’s not an act of rejection, but an act of self-respect.

iii. When faced with a request or commitment, pause before responding. Consider if it aligns with your goals and non-negotiables.

ENDSTATE

By mastering the art of saying ‘no’, you’ll ensure your actions and commitments align with your non-negotiables and goals, leading to a more congruent and fulfilling life.

BATTLEFIELD PHILOSOPHY

“Half of the troubles of this life can be traced to saying yes too quickly and not saying no soon enough.”

-Josh Billings
